Why are we a GmbH and not a Ltd company?

Charity Begins is incorporated in Germany as a GmbH due to our European base and international operations. A GmbH is the German version of a Limited company.

We work primarily with UK charities and organisations, delivering services in the UK market under UK law governed agreements where appropriate.

For candidates and clients, the experience is exactly the same as working with a UK consultancy.

Our Story

Made by the sector for the sector

This is only the begining

Founder and Managing Director Eddie Taylor has worked for and with a large variety of charities, not-for-profits and social enterprises and has an exceptional track-record when working with large, small or complex organisations who are going through a period of growth or change.

After a successful eight year career in accounting and finance recruitment where he worked his way from a junior consultant to leading three offices with a headcount of 35, he joined the charity sector in 2014. Entering as a corporate fundraiser and finishing up as Head of Development, in between were an enjoyable and successful seven years. Which included living in Ghana and discussing the SDGs in the President’s office, working with a women's focused micro-loan organisation in the jungles of Southern India, launching a partnership with EA, FIFA, and Hummel, to winning the Chartered Institute of Fundraising ‘Fundraiser of the Year Award 2020’.

After working within the charity sector focusing on fundraising, development, and programmes he joined the not-for-profit specialist executive search firm Peridot Partners where he had a successful and enjoyable four years leading their Fundraising and MarComms team.

Now, after 18 years of working on both sides of the table and learning a great deal (often the hard way!) it felt like the right moment to build something new. Taking the best elements of what he has seen work before and shaped by first-hand experience of the challenges charities face, he has created something grounded in the belief that everyone can and should play a positive role in society.
